The White Swan is a privately owned 600 years old pub & restaurant lovingly run by Val Lane and her fantastic team. The building has gone through many changes and has a wealth of history, Val has been actively involved with the business since 1996 and although there was a time lapse, she feels her roots belong there as her parents Pearl & Tommy Gough had the White Swan in the early 1950’s when it was a traditional ‘Courage’ house. Val was born Ash and has lived in the village for most of her life.
The White Swan is a family friendly bar and restaurant offering a wide selection of home cooked food head chef Vikki creates a wide variety of dishes from home cooked traditional fayre to more exotic cuisine including Bison, Kangaroo, Ostrich, Wild Boar and Venison, served with a selection of freshly made sauces to compliment these. Afternoon tea with live music and home made cakes is served monthly and breakfast is served every Saturday from 8am.
For a very special dining experience The Upstairs Restaurant is totally private dining room situated in the oldest part of the building. We offer an exclusive menu for up to 18 guests. This unique room is heavily beamed and full of period character. In both of the restaurants you are served by the enthusiastic team who work with Val & Vikki to make your visit to The White Swan an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
We have several outside areas boasting a variety of activities to occupy your little ones whilst you relax, for adults seeking quieter outside space visit our secret garden which is also available for private summer functions.
The ‘Swan Meadow’ is licenced for private functions with music and is available for wedding receptions for which we can organize beautiful marquees and a full ‘wedding breakfast’ The White Swan is literally a stones throw from St Peter & St Pauls Church in Ash.
We hold lots of different events throughout the year both inside and on ‘The Meadow’ including our annual Festival on the field with fantastic live music all day. More regularly we have quiz nights, International cuisine nights, live music evenings and Steak nights. On a weekly basis we offer meal deals and a reduced price menu for group bookings, we find that a lot of local Active Retirement Associations take advantage of this offer.
Vikki always produces the Christmas menu as early as possible as this enables you to book your seasonal events & parties in plenty of time, early booking for private Christmas parties in The Upstairs Dining Room is recommended as this is very popular and has limited availability.
